The Fraser Rapid Recovery Protocol
From Injury to the Podium: The Science of High-Performance Restoration
By Dr. James Fraser | Doctor of Chiropractic | 140,000+ Adjustments. Zero Guesswork
As an athlete myself, I understand - You don’t have time for "maybe." You don’t have time for "let’s see how it feels next week." Whether you are a weekend warrior crushing 14ers or an elite athlete fighting for a contract, your body is your primary asset. When that asset is compromised, you need an engineer, not a cheerleader - Although I have treated many athletes who are cheerleaders in sports.
I have performed over 140,000 adjustments over a decade of clinical experience in Florida and Colorado. I have seen every injury, every compensation pattern, and every failed rehab attempt that athletes may have tried before they inevitably sit in my waiting room.
This is because I don't guess. I follow the biological rate-limiting factor rules: The Fraser Rapid Recovery Protocol. This is the exact 6-stage methodology I use to take a broken system and rebuild it to outperform its factory settings.
STAGE 1: DAMAGE CONTROL - The Orthopedic Audit
“He who treats only the site of pain is lost.”
Many clinics or wellness spas treat only the symptoms. I hunt the cause, and the symptoms lead the way. Before I ever touch your spine, we execute a full-level Neuromusculoskeletal Examination.
We don’t just "talk" and "look" at you. We run full orthopedic stress tests to isolate the exact point of failure in your kinetic chain. To sync full-body performance, I must analyze the full body. Is your knee pain actually a lumbar disc issue? Is your shoulder impingement coming from a rib fixation?
In Stage 1, my goal is singular: Restore Joint Biomechanics. We unlock the fixated segments that are causing the cascade of dysfunction. We stop the fire where it started.
STAGE 2: MUSCLE RECOVERY - The Biological Hold
“Weakness is just pain leaving the body; it is a strong muscle recovering.”
Once the joint is moving, the soft tissue - your muscles, tendons, and ligaments - is in a state of shock. For days or weeks, these tissues have been in a "protective spasm," acting as a biological splint to immobilize your injury. They have been running a marathon while you were standing still.
Patients often tell me, "Doc, I feel weak." I tell them: "You aren't weak. You are exhausted."
Your muscles are hyper-strong, but they are fatigued from guarding against your injury. In Stage 2, we do not force them. We let the body do what it does best: heal. We hold the line. If we stress these tissues now, we trigger a relapse to Stage 1. We treat the symptoms while fixing the problem, ensuring the only limit to your recovery is your own physiology, not my intervention.
STAGE 3: TISSUE RELEASE - Targeted Decompression
“Precision beats power. Timing beats speed.”
This is where amateurs make mistakes. They throw the "kitchen sink" of stretches at you on Day 1. That is reckless. On Day 1, your body is fighting to survive; stretching a guarding muscle is like fighting a war on two fronts.
Here is the secret - we wait until Stage 3 - when the guarding has subsided - to assess true tissue length. Now, instead of guessing with 10 generic YouTube stretches, I prescribe the 1-2 Bio-Specific Stretches your body actually demands.
We target only the hyper-shortened tissue. We do not over-stretch loose muscles (which causes instability), and we do not irritate inflamed ones. We restore range of motion with surgical precision. Failing this stage means circling back to the starting blocks. We don’t do "do-overs." Mulligans are for golf, not your spine.
STAGE 4: STRUCTURAL REINFORCEMENT - The Antagonist Balance
“Harmony over Hype.”
The joint is moving. The tissue is pliable. Now, we build the fortress. Stage 4 is where athletes thrive. But here is the secret: I don’t just give you "sport-specific" exercises. I give you the Opposing Force.
If you swing a golf club 70 or 110 times a round, you are developing a "Sport-Specific Physique." This is great for your handicap, but terrible for your longevity, and out driving your grandchildren - I am looking out for you in your Senior years also. It creates a structural imbalance that grinds joints raw over the years, limiting your potential.
I prescribe the Antagonist Exercise - the movement pattern your sport neglects. We build strength in the opposing vectors to balance the joint. This doesn't just protect you; it gives you a solid platform to launch from. This is how you play for decades, not just seasons.
STAGE 5: NEUROLOGICAL RE-PROGRAMMING - The "Elite" Setting
“Factory settings are for average people.”
Your injury reset your neurology to "Factory Default." You didn't come to me to be average. You came to be elite.
Stage 5 is the Proprioceptive Reset. We are re-training the intrinsic stabilizers - the deep, small core muscles that fire milliseconds before you even move.
Think of an NFL receiver tapping two toes on the sideline while catching a bullet pass. That isn't luck. That is a Learned Motor Engram. His neurology is so dialed in that his body drops his toes automatically before his conscious mind realizes he caught the ball.
We rewire and reinforce your brain-to-body connection. We teach your joints where to hold for maximal mechanical advantage. We aren't just preventing re-injury; we are installing the "Advanced Performance Software" that allows you to generate power without hesitation.
STAGE 6: THE VICTORY LAP - Dominate.
“Be the best. Act the best. Win against the best.”
The final phase is yours. You are biomechanically sound, structurally balanced, and neurologically sharp.
Go out and perform. Set the PR. Win the race. But true champions lift the field. When you see a teammate, a competitor, or even a rival go down, help them up. Hand them my card. Not because you want to be nice, but because you want to beat them at their absolute best.
There is no honor in beating a broken opponent. Get them to Spine Spot, get them fixed, and then outperform them on the merits of your hard work.
- Welcome to the new standard -
Whether you tore it up on Highlands Bowl, tweaked it golfing at Maroon Creek Club, or had a blowout on the Rio Grande Trail, this protocol is the only direct pathway back to your full elite potential.
