Meet Karma: The "Pawsitive" Difference at Spine Spot Chiropractic

Medical Therapy dog chiropractor Dr. James Fraser dog Dalmatian Basalt

Certified Therapy Dog • Anxiety Relief Expert • Friday Greeter

Going to the doctor doesn't have to be stressful. At Spine Spot Chiropractic in Basalt, CO, we believe healing begins the moment you walk through the door. That’s why on Fridays, you’ll be greeted by our most popular team member: Karma, the Dalmatian.

Karma isn't just a pet; she is a Certified Therapy Dog trained to provide comfort, reduce anxiety, and bring a smile to your face before your adjustment even begins.

🧬 The Science of Puppy Love

Why Do We Have a Therapy Dog? It’s not just because she’s cute (though she definitely is). Research shows that interacting with a therapy animal can have measurable health benefits:

  • Lowers Cortisol: A few minutes of petting a dog can significantly reduce stress hormone levels.
  • Boosts Oxytocin: Interaction releases the "love hormone," promoting a sense of calm and trust.
  • Reduces Blood Pressure: A relaxed body responds better to chiropractic adjustments.

Dr. Fraser integrates Karma into the practice to ensure your nervous system is calm and receptive to care. She is a key part of our holistic approach to wellness.

🐾 Karma’s "Resume"

  • Official Title: Director of Barketing & Patient Comfort
  • Certification: Certified Medical Therapy Service Dog (2022)
  • Breed: Purebred Dalmatian (Yes, she has spots!) and was a rescue from Florida
  • Special Skills: Gentle greetings, nuzzling for pets, and sensing who needs extra love.
  • Office Hours: Fridays Only (She has a busy schedule of napping and hiking on the other days).

🐕 What to Expect on "Karma Fridays"

When you visit our office in Willits Town Center on a Friday, Karma will likely be the first to say hello.

  1. The Greeting: She will meet you at the door with a wagging tail.
  2. The Comfort: If you are nervous about your exam or in pain, Karma is happy to sit by your side and offer silent support.
  3. The Respect: Karma is trained to be calm and respectful. If you prefer not to interact with dogs, simply let us know, and she will happily give you space.
"Karma is the highlight of my week! I used to be nervous about adjustments, but seeing her immediately puts me at ease."  Jennifer, Basalt Patient

🚫 Office Etiquette & Safety

We want everyone to enjoy Karma’s company safely.

  • No Other Pets, Please: To ensure Karma stays focused on her job, we ask that you do not bring your own pets into the office on Fridays.
  • Allergies: If you have severe dog allergies, please let us know when booking so we can schedule you on a non-Friday or make appropriate accommodations.

🏔️ Karma’s Life in the Roaring Fork Valley

When she isn’t working hard at Spine Spot, Karma is a true Colorado dog. You might spot her:

  • Hiking the trails in Carbondale or Aspen.
  • Playing with pup friends at Crown Mountain Park.
  • Exploring the river trails along the Frying Pan.
